The wait is over. Starting today, Friday 18 September 2026, Apple's most powerful iPhone yet hits shelves in more than 65 countries and regions around the world.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are officially on sale — with a lot packed inside, and a few catches European buyers should know about.

THE KEY DATES

→ Unveiled: 9 September 2026

→ Pre-orders: 12 September 2026

→ On sale worldwide: Today, 18 September 2026

It launches alongside a new Apple Watch lineup and AirPods 5.

WHAT'S NEW

The A20 Pro Chip: Built on a 2-nanometer process with around 50% more memory bandwidth — the fastest chip Apple has ever put in a phone.

The Variable-Aperture Camera: The 48MP main camera introduces a physical variable aperture — a first for iPhone. Like a DSLR, it adjusts light for optical blur or full sharpness.

Better Cooling: A next-generation vapor chamber keeps the phone fast during heavy use.

Apple's Own Modem: For the first time, the Pro drops Qualcomm for Apple's own C2 modem.

iOS 27 and a New Siri: The phones ship with iOS 27 and a rebuilt, smarter Siri.

THE PRICE

→ iPhone 18 Pro: from $1,199 (with a 2TB option for the first time)

→ iPhone 18 Pro Max: from $1,299

That's a $100 increase over last year. European prices include VAT and run higher.

THE CATCH FOR EUROPEAN BUYERS

The new Siri AI features will NOT be available in the EU at launch, due to the bloc's strict digital regulations. European users get a less capable Siri than American ones — the latest chapter in Apple's tension with EU regulators.

WHAT'S NOT LAUNCHING TODAY

→ The standard iPhone 18 arrives spring 2027

→ The foldable "iPhone Duo" (from $1,999) goes on sale 23 October

SHOULD YOU BUY IT?

→ From an iPhone 15 Pro or older? A worthwhile upgrade.

→ From an iPhone 17 Pro? More incremental — the camera is the standout reason.

→ In the EU? Factor in the missing Siri AI features.

THE BOTTOM LINE

The iPhone 18 Pro is a refinement of what matters most: speed, camera, battery, and cooling. For power users, the variable-aperture camera and A20 Pro chip make it a genuine leap. Just remember — in Europe, your smart phone will be slightly less smart than Apple intended, thanks to Brussels, not Cupertino.
