Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), formerly known as Kandla Port, has been awarded the India Maritime Award 2026 — recognising it as one of India's best-performing major ports.
DPA, located in Kutch, Gujarat, handles a significant share of India's maritime cargo — including crude oil, petroleum products, chemicals, and dry bulk. The award recognises performance across cargo throughput, operational efficiency, infrastructure development, and environmental compliance.
India has 12 major ports under the central government and over 200 minor ports under state governments. The Sagarmala Programme, launched in 2015, has been driving port modernisation, coastal shipping, and port-led industrialisation across the country.
DPA has been a consistent top performer among India's major ports, benefiting from its strategic location near the Gulf of Kutch and its connectivity to India's western industrial belt.
